Minnesota Orchestra violinist Peter McGuire and contrabassoonist Norbert Nielubowski, who were substitute musicians with the CSO for the concerts with Osmo Vänskä, help distribute leaflets to CSO audiences.
This past weekend our music director, Osmo Vänskä, conducted concerts with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Osmo was available to conduct these concerts due to the two-month lockout of the Musicians of the Minnesota Orchestra imposed by the Association.
Our colleagues at the CSO wrote a message of support which they distributed to audience members attending the concerts. We would like to extend our deepest appreciation for their advocacy during this time. Click here to view their message.
It is my understanding that Maestro Skrowaczewski led LOMOMO at the October 18 concert without any substantial personal compensation. I do hope that Maestro Vanska will be donating a substantial portion of whatever he earned from his weekend gig with the CSO (for which he was only available because of the lockout action of the management of the Minnesota Orchestra) to the musicians of LOMOMO.
